Triage Nurse - Ambulatory Services (Urgent Care, Phone-Based Position)
This is an on-site phone triage RN position for an urgent care clinic under Ambulatory Services. The nurse is not stationed in the clinic and is never pulled for clinical duties, as triage is a full-time responsibility.
The triage nurse handles a high volume of calls from patients with acute health concerns, many from underserved communities (homeless, uninsured, etc.). Using Epic and clinical judgment, the nurse determines whether patients need same-day urgent care appointments—not for chronic issues.
Based in the “bubble”, the triage RN works in a space where attendings and residents are available for support. A part-time triage nurse assists with call volume. The team culture is collaborative, fast-paced, and focused on equitable, high-quality care.

Role Purpose
Provides direct patient care to identified patients in collaboration with providers and care team to assess, develop and implement a plan of care to deliver clinically appropriate, high-quality, cost-effective care. The ambulatory RN offers oversight/guidance to clinical staff working in the clinic and helps to support providers with daily patient management.
