DHMC seeks a Director of Nursing to lead psychiatric and emergency nursing across inpatient, emergency, and ambulatory settings by shaping care delivery, quality, staffing, training, and strategic program development in a system that values innovation, compassion, and professional growth. Our psychiatric and emergency service lines are growing, so this new leader will be instrumental in our success.
Key Responsibilities
Provide operational leadership for nursing services across psychiatric and emergency care at DHMC and affiliated contracted entities.
Ensure compliance with budgetary, regulatory, and accreditation requirements; oversee staffing models, training, and documentation standards.
Partner with medical and administrative leaders to deliver safe, effective, high-quality, and cost-effective patient care.
Advance nursing practice through continuous learning, recognition, and professional development.
Lead patient-experience improvement: review data, address concerns, implement actions; track engagement and reduce turnover.
Champion shared governance, empowering nurses to influence practice and operational decisions.
Contribute to system leadership (committees, professional organizations, publishing, teaching, research).
Recommend policy changes to align operations with organizational strategy.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
Master’s degree in Psychiatric Nursing (MSN) required; direct patient-care experience required.
5+ years of progressive nursing management/leadership experience.
Specialty certification strongly preferred; ongoing professional education and participation in professional organizations desired.
Licensure/Certification
Active RN license in New Hampshire (or eligibility).
